Walkathon Sponsor Spotlight: Rotary Club of Peekskill

The Rotary Club of Peekskill returns as a Silver Sponsor of the 2020 Walkathon for the third consecutive year. Their local members are in the forefront of community activities, giving of their time and talents to make Peekskill a better place in which to live.

The Club has continued to serve during the coronavirus pandemic. Since April, they have been distributing food weekly to the Peekskill community. Members also raised over $4,000 to purchase a disinfecting fogger for the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps – a device that quickly cleans ambulances in between calls. They also sponsored two children to have life-saving heart surgery in El Salvador.

BluePath was introduced to the Club through Rotarian John Mattis, who passed away unexpectedly last year. John often made the long journey to North Carolina to bring our future service dogs up to New York for their puppy raisers. He was an incredibly kind man who was always willing to lend a hand. His warm smile and loving heart is greatly missed. BluePath puppy Mattis was named in his memory.

The Club has been serving the community since 1919 and their motto is “Service Over Self.” We are grateful to have them as our partners in making the world a better place.
