Pet Dog Adoption
BluePath dogs who are better suited as pets are occasionally offered for public adoption at fees ranging from $500 – $4,000. Dogs released from our program are primarily Labrador retrievers between the ages of 12 and 30 months.
Released dog applicants must submit the adoption application. We’ll contact you once the application is processed and let you know if you’ve been placed on our adoption list. Please note that we will not ship dogs to their new homes; adopters should live within driving distance of our headquarters in Hopewell Junction, NY.
BluePath’s released dogs have had basic obedience training as well as special attention to house manners and socialization. Some reasons for release are dog distraction, lack of confidence and medical concerns. None of our released dogs may be used as service dogs.
We love all of our dogs, and it’s of paramount importance to us to place them in homes that match their personalities and needs. Because of this careful assessment as well as the small number of released dogs, the wait time may range from months to years. BluePath is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies entirely on donations to fulfill its mission. Supporters interested in sponsoring a service dog team may be eligible for a reduced waiting period.
