Favorite Part of Puppy Raising: Working and communicating with dogs is really special to me. I love the bond between a puppy raiser and a puppy as well as the general bond between humans and dogs; there is a lot of unconditional trust and love in these relationships.
Favorite Memories with BluePath: One of my favorite memories was meeting volunteer fosters Jim Brown and Marianne Devine in Binghamton when I picked up Connie to take home. They were so kind and told me how much fun they have with their foster dogs.
Words of Wisdom for Prospective Puppy Raisers: When raising a puppy, it is important to invest a ton of time during the first weeks. The early stages are when the relationship between puppy and puppy raiser is formed and both puppy and raiser learn how to communicate with each other. I also think it’s important to try not to overthink and to ask others for advice when you have questions.
What Volunteering with BluePath Means to Her: I am fascinated by dogs and their ability to help humans beyond their role as pets. I feel honored to be a part of the service dog journey that results in someone’s life being transformed.
