BluePath is a nonprofit organization providing autism service dogs, offering safety, companionship, and opportunities for independence. Prior to placement in their forever homes, BluePath dogs can visit local businesses, corporations, and nonprofits to improve morale and enhance wellbeing in the workplace.
BluePath dogs are purpose-bred from our own breeding program or through partner organizations; they possess superior health and temperament that give them the best chance to be successful in their future careers. All our dogs receive thousands of hours of obedience training and socialization and possess a robust reference library of sights and sounds that empowers them to encounter the world calmly and confidently.
Dogs participating in Paws for Wellness are typically Labrador retrievers, Golden retrievers, and Labrador-Golden crosses. They are aged 18 to 24 months, at which time they are close to their final career placement. (Puppies may be available but these opportunities are limited.)
Paws for Wellness is a fee-based program ranging from $750 – $5,000 per event, based on location and the number of dogs and human handlers involved. All visits support BluePath’s mission of providing life-changing service dogs to autism families, free of charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
YES. Each dog-human handler team visiting your office is covered with our liability insurance. BluePath can also provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming your building owner in aggregate commercial general liability coverage.Â
A conference room or other communal space is often the best place for a visit. We recommend signing employees up in advance for 10- minute slots. though some prefer longer. Small groups are great too. Some employees love to get down on the floor with the dogs, while others like sitting in chairs in a circle around the dog and handler. In addition to conference rooms, we can also visit employees who’ve requested time with a dog in their cubicles and offices.Â
BluePath dogs always arrive on a leash and remain connected to a BluePath staff member during the entirety of their visit. Our dogs are extremely well-mannered in any environment. If puppies are requested (and available), they will be carried into the office space.
All our dogs are groomed and walked prior to visiting your office. They are trained to work with children and spend many hours in school and therapeutic settings. Our dogs do shed so lint rollers will be provided. If puppies are visiting, BluePath staff will bring cleaning supplies in case of an accident.
It depends on the number of employees who want to spend time with a dog. On average, a visit runs from one to two hours.
