“Fostering dogs from BluePath has brought us love and the ability to be a part of something bigger. We’re a part of a process that is really going to change someone\’s life.”
Heather Graham and her family have fostered three BluePath pups: Lakota, Macie and Mesa. They love welcoming new dogs into their home as the dogs serve as great companions as for Heather’s eight year-old daughter, Lilah and her own two Labradors, Carney and Flaxen.
As a speech and language teacher at Copper Beech Middle School in the Lakeland school district, Heather works with a variety of children with autism. She recognizes the benefits of safety, independence, and freedom that an autism service dog provides.
“BluePath’s mission definitely hits close to home. I understand what families go through and how hard it can be for parents to keep their children safe when they go outside of the home.”
Heather especially values the special bond that Lakota, Macy, and Mesa have shared with her daughter, Leila. Each dog quickly connected with Leila, understanding the moments when she needed them, and Leila learned invaluable lessons about giving back to help others.
