As a guide dog instructor for 12 years, Megan Baker has a deep understanding of how service dogs positively impact people’s lives. Shortly after the birth of her daughter Cecilia, now 17 months old, Megan had extra time and wanted to give back to a field she loves.
Megan now volunteers her time to input vital information into the BluePath database. Data includes puppy raiser and foster applications, along with training hours for each of the dogs on the path to become service dogs.
“It’s important to quantify how much time you have to put into each one of these dogs before they are placed,” Megan shares. “It’s thousands of hours, which is pretty surprising.”
The information Megan records helps BluePath supporters and prospective donors understand the extensive service dog training process, and often helps to secure crucial program funding.
